Makeup for the Big Day

If there was ever a day you want to shine, it's your Wedding day!
On that special day, all eyes will be on you.
So, you should look as beautiful as you feel!

No one said planning a wedding was easy. From gowns to gifts, photos to flowers, the bride has lots of decisions to make. Says Millie Martin Bratten, Bride's magazine Editor-in-Chief, "Approximately 70 billion dollars is spent on weddings in the United States, and that's everything to do with getting married and going on a honeymoon and setting up your new home."

The bride's first priority? Her gown.
That, Bratten says, will set the tone. And while styles may change season to season, one thing remains constant -- looking beautiful on your wedding day!

"It's not a day to experiment. It's your wedding day, so you really have everything ready set to go that day," says makeup artist Guy Lento. "Today is Maggie's big day, so we are preparing her skin. We are beginning with treatment. Hydramax, our moisturizer, goes on first to really get her skin all dewy and all fresh and ready for makeup."

First step? Concealing any darkness or blemishes.

"Two concealers, a light and more yellow shade, a brightener and illuminizer. Right under the eye area, take you finger, pat and press," explains Lento.

Don't forget the bridge of the nose.
"Chanel has a perfect product for brides this summer, Sheer Brilliance," says Lento. Guy applies the tinted face wash sparingly, keeping the look sheer and sexy.

Next, Powder Lights.
"Always make sure there is no shine, especially in the center of the face. The camera will pick that up."

Eyebrows are essential! "Brows should always be a bit longer. It makes such a difference." Next, Mauve Moire satin eye color is applied all over the lid.
"You just want a very light wash of color that day."

He highlights the bridge of the nose with White Velvet. No more shadows! Next he uses an eye liner duo. This adds drama! He finishes with waterproof mascara.

On the cheeks, he uses Face Brights in russet.
Then Buff is used as a highlighter. "These two colors are exquisite. See that beautiful luminosity to her skin?"
Next, the lips are lined with tawny. To keep Maggie's mouth kissable, he uses Pink Sugar -- a hydrating lipstick.

"This is a very good trick to remember if you apply the color and blot it with tissue and then you can paint it again and it will stay on most of the day." Guy dabs Scream glossimer to the center of the lips.

Chanel recommends keeping a few things close by.
"So you really want to have a little compact, pressed powder with you in your purse, you really want to have a lipstick."
Fragrances, Guy says, evoke the mood of the day.
"Chanel No. 5 which is much more classic, which many brides choose, but my personal choice is Allure, it's young, it's fresh, it's modern."

The blushing bride is ready for the walk down the aisle!
Here comes the bride!
